i have laptop and desktop pc's networked using 10/100 cards and win98. i set up sharing so the c:: drive of each is shared.
when i look at network neighborhood on each computer i can see and expand the respective c: drives of the other computer. when i map each to a drive letter with a 'reconnect at login' i get the following results.
on the desktop the mapped drive letter and disk for the laptop shows up under the my computer as it should along with the resident c: drive, a: drive etc.
on the laptop the mapped drive letter and disk for the desktop does NOT show up at all (no sign of it anywhere on explorer.exe unless i go into network neighborhood and open it as in the premapped stage). when i try to remap the desktop c: drive on the laptop it says it is already connected to that drive. when i use winfile.exe on the laptop the desktop drive icon is there and can be expanded.
any ideas how i can get the mapped desktop drive to appear on explorer.exe? i have scanned the laptop explorer.exe for virus and see none and have tried running an explorer.exe (copied from the desktop) on the floppy drive of the laptop and still don't see the desktop c: drive.
other then this explorer.exe seems to be working fine and the winfile.exe seems to show it is mapped correctly since it appears with the mapped drive letter.
thanks.....
