I just set up a wireless network, connecting my XP (Home) desktop directly to a wireless router, and my Win 98SE notebook via wireless adapter. I finally got the PC's to "see" each other through the ZoneAlarm firewall, but the notebook still cannot see the printers that are connected to the desktop PC.
I have "shared" the printers on the XP machine, and can see the "hand" holding the printer icons, so I know they are shared -- but the notebook still cannot see them. I have also installed File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks on both machines, and in fact file sharing is working fine.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,
As well as setting up file & printer sharing you will need to install the printers as networked printers on the notebook. Start - Settings - Printers - Add Printer and then select Networked printer and follow the wizard. You have to be certain that the network path to the printer is correct \\desktop name on network\printer name and the printer name correct.

Thanks, but I did try this and the notebook cannot see the printers. I tried both "browsing" the network to see if I could just click through to the printers, and I also tried entering the network path to the printer. Neither way worked.

to get the windows 98 machine to see the shares on the xp machine, I think you have to create a user account on the xp machine with the same username and password as you use to log into the windows 98 machine. after you do this and grant permissions for this user account to use the networked printer, you should be able to print
