I have 2 win98 computer.one crossover cable between them.my main Computer has 2 NIC`s one with the crossover cable, the other connected to my NATDSL router that runs dhcp. If i start winxp i can easly do an network bridge, the other win98 computer gets an IP throught the winxp directly to my NAT, how XP is doing that? ANN how the Hell i can reproduce it in win98? i test it with route.exe and stuff like winroute, but these NAT software do NAT, i only want : get the stuff from my NIC 1, and but it to NIC 2(that goes to my dhcp router) and back. in win 98 i must assign 2 IP, In XP it "looks" like both have the same,
i guess XP is only hiding the 2 NIC`s ip and show me the dhcp one. nevertheless i realy have no clue at all :( help is appreciated.

If you have a router tie both computers to it. A router's purpose is to share internet through dhcp. Unless you mean you have a dsl modem.
Your question about 2 98 computers where's the xp connected or is it dual boot? If dual boot you will have to configure both os's seperately. add ICS to win98 through add remove programs if that's what your asking.

sry for not been exactly, but you made it anyway. ICS under win98 is not running in my wanted way , its only like a new gateway for the other win98 computer. i want that the router is the gateway cause by online games i dont need the port 80 internet share, i need 100 % of the ports. Under win xp all is running like i plug the 2 computer directly into the router, it optains it IP. But i dont want XP, and also not to plug it directly, cause than i need to have 2 cables through the house and cause it runs under winXP, i hope (yes i have dual boot by the 2 NIC´s computer) that there is a program like route.exe or something thats is XP doing for windows98. and in XP i have it easy, i only set a network bridge, but in win98 the is not some feature like this easy way.

Go into the registry and find the key...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
Find the DWORD value...
IPEnableRouter
And set it to 1
This will enable ip forwarding between the two NIC's on your Windows 98 system.
It probably wont relay DHCP from your router. If it doesnt, statically assign the settings to your other computer.
That IS all you need to do! Keep at it until you get it running.
