Network w/ winroutelite problems

OS: win 98 & win me
CPU/Ram: different for each

I have a desktop running Win98(guest) and a desktop running WinME/WinXP(host). They are networked using Parallel cable and WinRouteLite. The computers see each other, guset can use printer. If WinRoute is not on I can access the internet with host computer.When WinRoute is started neither computer can access the internet.
Any suggestions?

I don't know anything about winlite, but I use Analogx, it's free and no problems.
