I have two top of the range dell machines both running on xp. I have purchased a netgear 54g. So should be transferring at extremely high speeds. My network utilisation is at about 3-4% if i was to make one computer dedicated would this help, if so how would i make it dedicated when transferring files?
Any help, or ways to increase transfer speeds would be appreciated thanks!!!

I agree with Jamie, One thing that can help a little is: If all your computers are using Wireless G cards and no Wirless B. Then go into your router wireless settings and change the settings to G only. Usually the router default is set to mixed network so it will work with both B and G systems. It will run faster if set to G only. The other thing is to check to see if it is a wireless range problem. If you find that it is a range problem, there are several high gain antennas from Hawking Tech and other that can sometimes help.
