Network transfer speed

Hi there i just setup my home network using the 2 network cards in one compy and 1 in the other method, using iternet connection sharing everything works as it should but if i transfer a file between the 2 compys i get between 2mb/sec to 6mb/sec transfer speed, now all my cards are 10/100 base and set to full duplex mode shouldnt i get a far faster transfer speed than im getting???? My server machine is Using XP pro and my client is windows Me any help would be great

Take care of upper/lower cases mb, MB, mB, MB doesnt mean the same things!!!
6MBps(48Mbps) is an acceptable transfer rate for a 10/100 network, but if you mean 6Mb, verify your wiring and equipments.

Please enlighten us on the difference between mb, MB, mB & MB, since they doesn't mean the same things.
I'll bet you that 99 out of 100 people can't tell you the difference. I've been in programming for 15+ years and I can't tell you the difference. Maybe I'm just dumb.

LAN 10/100 is m bits. but data tranfer is 6 MB (M bytes) Full seep for LAN 100 mb is 10 MBytes /Sec but you speed is drop at 4.8 MB, maybe limit it you hard disk is slowly.
data link ,Exp lan speed ,modem speed unit is bits. Data tranfer ,Exp files tranfer speed,files size unit is bytes.
