Hi

Looking for some free software to run on my PC to check traffic on our internal network, we have broadband but it's very slow when I tested the download speed but very fast if I plug a computer directly into the router, so need to check what programs and what machine is downloading what and how much bandwidth they are using. I had some packet analyser program but not sure how to use it or read the info when I capture data on the network.
My firewall also shows bandwidth by ip and port but need more specific to what each machine is doing.

Any ideas?

This is a powerful network monitoring tool. I have used it in the past. If you want to monitor each machine... you will have to setup SMNP on each machine, with this tool. It also comes in a VMware version.

Another packet analyser isn't going to help in this regard.

You don't have a bandwidth/download problem. You have a wireless issue. You would have a bandwidth problem if it continued to be slow with the direct connect.

Now if this isn't a home but business setup this can be a different story.
