Ok,

On my network we are having an issue with the time being either 2-5 minuets fast or slow. What could be causing this issue, and why is this happening? I know that overtime electronics will get "out of sync" but this is happening to often. Has anyone had this issue before? What was the solution, any tips?

Thanks in advance!

Are you syncing with a time server or manually setting the time?

Check your cmos battery. If it's weak, then your system won't keep time.

Fish and Wanderer,

We do have a time server, but it seems that it keeps getting out of sync. Our timeserver syncs with the atomic time clock.

When we use the net time cmd it ask for the time server IP.

Did you mean the cmos batter on the time server or the workstation?

Thanks,

"When we use the net time cmd it ask for the time server IP. "

Then you have not set the time server source if its asking. If set when you do the command it gives you the time source.

If time source is set to external the cmos battery state will not matter.

Are you running Active Directory?
