Network split itself into 2 groups.

Comment:
Our network (NTServer4.0 w/ XP Workstations)was working fine for months and months, but now for some reason, our server only "sees" half of the computers on our network. The other half that the server cannot see can now only see each other.
It's almost as if my domain was split in two. They still are listed under the same network domain "PUBLIC", but for some reason they have now divided into 2 separate "gangs".

Are these other computers that you can't see are they on a different switch or router then the computers you can see? I would check the hardware.

if "nothing has changed" I would suspect the hardware has failed. If, as suggested above, the missing PCs are on their own segment of the network behind a router, the device has either failed or the cable to the WAN port has gotten kicked loose. Check your connections, hook one of these machines directly to the main server or router and see if it is recognized. Replace the suspect device and try again.
If they're all part of the main network then from any missing client go to the command prompt and do an IPCONFIG/RENEW. If it gets a gateway address it can "see" the server. If not the device connecting these to the server has failed and should be replaced.

Sounds like one of the workstations grabbed the role of master browser. Look back thru the server event viewer logs for when a election took place for master browser and who [machine name] it was with. Go to that machine and disable its ability to be a master broswer.
If it is master browser then rebooting the server should put the server back on top. if not it will clearly say who generated the election.
