Network sharing time

I have a network between two computers, and i use a router to share my cable. The problem is that in order to share files between the 2 computers, i have to log in on every machine with the computer name and password, but the sharing process disconnects after a while if I didn't use the network...(So i have to restart both computers to log in again). Is there some way to keep both systems sharing all the time without even if i didn't use the network.....THANKS The operating systems are Win98,WinME.

98 and ME are not the friendliest to networks, but what (I think) you can do is map the other computers drive. Start sharing If you are on computer a, right click on computer b's hard drive and choose map. Go to the other computer and right click on a's hard drive and choose map.
This will automatically connect each computer at login.
Let me know if this helps.... if you need it more clearly explained I am willing to do so
