Hi,
I want to connect two computers together so they can share the same Internet connection.
If you can provide steps on how to do this please help!
One computer has XP and the other has 98.
I have a broadband modem connected to the XP computer. How would I set this network up? Would I have both of the computers connected to a hub/router which is connected to the modem?
Does the Xp computer have to be swicthed for the 98 computer to have Internet Access?

Use Analogx's proxy on the system that has the connection. Use the readme file to see how to configure the second computer correctly.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

The most reliable and easiest way to do this is to obtain a router. I have a Linksys BEFSR41 wired router connecting to my windows XP and windows 98SE computers. The cabling is as follows:
phoneline > DSL MOdem > router > XP computer
> 98 computerThe cables are all normal ethernet CAT5 so no odd cables are needed. This router has a built-in 4 port ethernet switch which enhances the computer to computer networking.
The Modems IP address is 192.168.0.1 while the router is 192.168.1.1. Each computers IP address is obtained automatically using the DHCP of the router.
Compaq Presario SR1720NX Desktop Computer
AT&T SBC Yahoo DSL Home
Linksys Router/2 computers

You have 3 choices, check and then decide which one is suitable for you case:

Hope helps...
