I received a wireless NIC from a friend and I created a network through his wireless router. My PC connects to the internet through my router and sometime through his. I want my computer to connect to the internet through my router only.
I also can't connect to my router at the adress 192.168.1.2 which I changed from the default 192.168.1.1 to have a different adress then his router. I suspect the call to my router's address is going through his router.

I want a guide on how to set this network.

The network setup as to now:
my friend's PC -> my friend's wireless router -> my friend's ISP
my PC -> NIC #1-> my router -> my isp
-> NIC #2-> my friend's wireless router -> his share (and his isp...)

Thanks

IPSwitch makes a software to store multiple nw configs should you want to use both

Which router you're using to connect to the internet depends on the Gateway Address your client has in it's TCP/IP settings. If you want to access via your router, use it's address on your client. If you wish to access via his, use that address.

Hi,
I played with the address assignements in between answers and had my network set as follow.
My router assigns addresses of the form 193.168.1.X and his router assigns addresses of the form 192.168.1.x. I am able to browse his share and I am able to connect to the internet through my isp. While my computer has 2 gateways, I need to make sure that the default gateway is the one assigned to my router.

I've solved the default gateway problem by assigning a metric of 2 to my router gateway.

My network seems to be running fine.
