I am setting up a network with 2 computers. Both have xp pro but one is ntfs and one has fat32 (didn't know if that made a difference). They are both hooked up to a router, one wired and one wirelessly. Both computers can see each other when viewing workgroup computers. Both computers have the firewall turned off. The computer that has ntfs can access the other computer fine. However, the computer that has fat32 cannot connect to the one with ntfs. An error pops up saying network resource is denied check with administrator. There is a folder on the ntfs computer that is shared and does not restrict access to anyone. Any ideas?

If you haven't already, create a user account on the target PC (NTFS) for the one you wish to connect with (FAT32) and use the exact same username/password you use to log onto the PC when creating the account. Once it's created, try connecting to the shared folder again and see if you can't get in now. If not, add the user account to the ACL of the share and try again.

That didn't work. When I use the ntfs computer to log onto the other one a dialog box comes up asking for a user name and password. I enter both and it works fine. When I try to log onto the ntfs computer using the other one, the dialog box doesn't come up. It just says I might not have permission to access it.
