i'd like to know more about network commands for the windows console (ping, net, netstat, etc.) where can i find guides/tutorials for these?

Try www.microsoft.com or go to www.google.com and enter the name of the command you wish to learn more about. The help files in windows give information on each command as well. Also, you can simply type the command followed by /? for command line help (ex: netstat /?)
