My son and I love playing Medal of Honor online. Unfortunately, we can't play at the same time on the same server. We can go to any other web site at the same time or even different MOHAA game servers simultaneously but whenever one tries to log on to the same server as the other we boot each other off. The game server admins say that others play on their home networks at the same time (they can see the identical IPs) but no such luck for us. We both run Win 98SE and our internet service (Charter, if that matters)is via a cable modem through a Linksys wired router. We had DSL before with the same problem. Linksys tech support was no help. Any suggestions?
bad command or file name!

Does MOH use a unique ID system (perhaps you and your son are using the same ID)? Have you tried hosting your own server on your LAN and recreating the problem?

Check this out:

The problem is that a Linksys router has a simple NAT firewall, and NAT doesn't handle peer-to-peer network games like MOH very well. One client on a NAT LAN can log in but two confuse the game server - it's sending "unrequested" packets that the NAT firewall doesn't recognize so it drops these. Unfortunately, MOH detects this as a dropped connection and logs you out.
Follow the steps outlined on this page and you should be good to go.
