I run a 10/100 network at home with four computers on it. I have a linksys 8 port hub. I have 3 of the computers connected using patch cable and one using a cross over cable to the uplink port. I have win2k on two computers and win98 on the other two. The way I was running it before was using sygate software on one win2k computer acting as the server. The sygate server did dns and dhcp. I have two nic cards in that machine, one connected to my dsl and one connected to the hub. It was running fine sharing the connection between all other computers and it was fast. I had to reformat that computer so I did that, put win2k back on and set it all back up. Now what happens is there is major patcket loss to the other comps on the network. The server which is connected to the dsl does just fine, yet the other computers lag hard and go very very slow. I have tried setting one of the other computers up as the server yet it does the same thing. I have tried switching the nics around and using different ones in different computers and there is no difference. I have narrowed it down to being either the hub or some setting some where. I have switched the ports around on the hub, switched cables around, everything I can think of, but nothing. If someone could tell me how to setup ICS on win2k, I will try that, or any other suggestions would be great. I need to have all my machines sharing the dsl like it was before. Oh, and I have tried win98 as well, no go. Thanks.

OK, let start with the basics...
Your server. I'm going to assume (bad word, that one) that it's the box connected to the DSL line, with two NIC's and th uplink port with crossover cable. Correct so far?
If so, you can start by using a standard patch cable, and a normal port. There's no reason to use the uplink port. However, that shouldn't cause your problems.
When you reinstalled the server, did you download and install the newest drivers for the NIC? That's what this whole problem seems to look like: drivers. Try that and see what happens.
It also makes it a lot easier for us to read if you're a bit more specific about your machines, and use a bit of formatting. Just a return or two would help dramatically.
HTH,
Chase

Well you assumed wrong, no, the server uses a patch cable. Also had the newest drivers for nics. But last nite i said screw it, bought a router and configured that instead of the hub. That works fine, yet I cant download past 30k on any comp, and I used to have 100k downloads. But it works.
