Hi Guys

We have about 300 PC's in our workplace all on the same domain.

All have the same OS's with the same SPacks installed.

Problem is, I can logon to 1/2 of them, but not the other 1/2! Its not just a tempremental thing either - if i cant logon to that machine it wil NEVER let me, likewise if I can.

When I logon to a machine that wont let me logon, it accepts my password, says loading your settings, and then says "Windows Explorer Has Encounted An Error", Send/Dont Send Error Report

Whichever I click, the screen just displays my desktop background and does nothing... no sign of CPU power or anything. I then just do CADelete and log off.

The technicians dont have a clue what the problem is... they've tried resetting my logon profile and everything but nothing works!

Help! this is really anooying!

Windows Explorer is the windows gui (your desktop environment). It sounds like you have a missing or corrupt system file. You chould boot into safe mode and run the system file checker utility (sfc.exe) or do an upgrade install to reintall/refresh the system files.
