I have two computers both with win2000 connected via crossover cable with network cards using ipx protocol. Both network cards LED's light up upon bootup, and the icom on the taskbar shows that they are connected. File sharing is enabled. Trouble is when I try to connect multiplayer games through ipx, they can't see each other. I have tried several games and none work. I am relatively new at this and can't figure it out. Does one have to be a server and one client? I have switched this option around and has not worked. Any suggestions.

Is the network working fine otherwise? That is, can you share files. If so, it is most probable that the games are expecting to communicates via TCP/IP.
Install TCP/IP and set one computer to an IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the other to 192.168.0.2 and see it that works.

Stuart you hit it right on the money. I inserted the values and it found it right away. Don't know why no game wouldn't work with ipx even though the option is available, but doesn't matter now. Thanks a million and pat yourself on the back. Thanks Lockjaw735
