Hello, I just bought a Startitec Easy network kit and it has 2 Realtek RTL8029 network cards with it. Well they work fine in computer 2 but when i put one in computer 1 win 98 se finds it installs the drivers but I keep getting a error in device manager with a yellow ! net to it and it says this device is not working properly or drivers are not install correctly (code10) I have tried everything re-install the drivers changeing PCI slots and still same thing. Anyone with any Ideas???PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi Steve,
You are saying that Network cards worked good in computer 2. What is the operating system on it? I guess that it is different from PC1...Also you are saying that Win 98 finds it and installs drivers, don't think that those are right drivers, get the latest drivers from the Internet and the problem should be solved. At least try drivers that came with the kit. Hope this will help. Post back and we will think of something else

Yes I have tried both cards in computer 1 and neither will work but they both do work in computer 2 which has win 98 se and same drivers I was useing for computer 1. I also tried the the driver disk that came with the network kit and still same thing. Keeps giveing me code 10. I thought might be something in my bios but did not find anything there. You have any Ideas???

Do you still have PC2? If yes, does it have any NIC card now, if so, try that another card on PC 1. Once I had similar problem that was due to flaky ISA slot. No card wanted to work in it (it was on older IBM with token cards). But you tried switching to different PCI. Post the system info on PC1, what is the Mainboard? Maybe someone else will have ideas. If both PCs run 98SE, than could be hardware on PC1 preventing successful installation...
Steve, try another thing, on PC1 remove the drivers from Device Manager while in the SAFE MODE. Restart after that and install driver again. Sometimes it helps. Good Day!

Yes I have tried both cards in pc 1 and neither card will work it it.

Pc 1 is Pentium 166mhz with Award bios and neither card seems to work in this machine.

Pc 2 is Packard Bell Pentium 120mhz and both cards will work in this machine.

Just can not figure out why Windows will find the card in PC1 and install the drivers but then when i reboot it has a error saying this device is not working properly or not installed properly code 10
