Something is wrong! it was downloading at great speeds, i just don't know waht happen.
Any advice from all of u (Guru's)
Thanks,
Kenewbie

The only services you need on the second comp are the same services you have on the first comp.
So remove those extra services.
Apply the same tweaks to your second comp. as you did to the first one.

Salutations Dave02,
I did unistall what's not needed. Even though web paged download alot quicker as u browse.
Now the other ? how do i tweak like the first 1. It came with the package perfect. I am haveing problems with my Alienware 51 u believe that u invest 3k for all this headache and Bestbuy says there is nothing wrong.
Ah! excuse me it is not downloading correctly. Ah is your dsl provider they have me like a yoyo up and down.
Any other advice thanks,
Kenewbie

How is your second comp. networked with your first comp.?
Is it networked using ICS?
Or through a router?
Or both?
Or crossover cable?
Is it too, plugged into the ISP's Modem same as your first comp.?

I'm this YahooDSL uses some acceleration software that is installed on the computer.
To network it with the most efficiency, I would set it up like this using ICS on the Host Machine, and CAT5 cable.

Salutations Dave02,
Looking at your response thanks once again.
The 1st computer has a Router sent by sbc connected useing usb to the comp.
The 2nd computer is connected by a filter and uses the phone line to make the connection.
Your useing lingo that i do not understand though i will learn as i go. The router came with a disk and installed directly it did it on its own. ? Whare do i begin. Tell me what to do and i will follow your steps to the spec.
Thanks
Kenewbie

Does your first computer have a network card?
Does you second computer have a network card?
If so.
Then connect both computers using a crossover cable.
Then run the network setup wizard on the computer connected to the DSL modem.
This is when you tell the wizard that this computer connects directly to the internet.
This is how ICS is installed on the first computer which will be refered to as the Host.
Then all you have to do is run the network setup wizard on the second computer and tell the wizard that, that computer connects to the internet through another computer on the network.
That computer will then become the client.
Under TCP/IP properties.
Set the client to auto detect IP address, and set the primary DNS server to 192.168.0.1 and tell it to use port 83 or port 85.
Then go into the control panel on the client computer.
Switch to classic view.
Then click on Internet Options, then the connections tab.
Then click the LAN button.
Put a tick by use proxy server and then tick bypass proxy server for local addresses, then click the Advanced button and out by HTTP tell it to use 192.168.0.1 as it's proxy server and designate the same port as you did for the DNS server.
Then install DrTCP on to the client computer and tweak your settings to match your HOST computer.
For your recieve window. I have found that 328280 is a good number. And an MTU of 1500 is also good. Max duplicate acts set at 3 and a packet size of 64.Hope this helps you out.

Dear Dave02,
I forgot to mention on the first comp is NOT connected to a network card is connected like this:
Sbc 2wire home portal and is connected by USB and the phone line to existing phone.
2nd computer is connected via phone line to computer at the USB port by a filter called 2wire pc port. No network card
Also in my 2nd comp in netwrk conn'n reads:
LAN or High Speed Internet1) 1394 Conn'n 3
Enabled
1394 Net adapter2) Local Area Conn'n 9
Network Cable Unplugged
Intel (R) PRO/100 VE Netwrk3) Local Area Conn'n 8
Enabled
2wire pc portDo i still follow all info u provided or partial. Let me know thanks once again for your informative knowledge,
Kenewbie

My suggestion is to merely get you more speed and stability.
I use a satelite dish to connect to the internet because I live outside of the city in a rural area.
My satelite comes in through cable and connects to a modem and then the modem connects to my computer via USB. I have a ethernet/network card on this computer as well, and I have a 1394 firewire connection, although I have nothing plugged into the 1394 connection when you run the network setup wizard, it will bridge the ethernet and 1394 connection. That is fine. No need to worry.
The computer that connects directly to the satelite modem via USB is the one I have set up as the HOST computer. I have multiple computers in my network as well as some wireless ones.
I run a CAT5 crossover cable from the network connection of my Host computer to one of the numbered ports on my router which I have configured as a HUB. Per the instruction link I gave you in an earlier post.
My Host computer has to be on for any of the network computers can access the internet, because they all access the internet through the Host.
So I basically have it running in server mode.
Which is fine.
You can still use as you would a regular computer, it just stays ON all the time. It only goes down for maintenance.
Since you are only wanting to network one more computer. You do not need to buy a router.
All you need is a piece of CAT5 crossover cable long enough to reach from one computer to the next.
They will be connected via the CAT5 cable.
You will not need that other stuff on the client computer.
So. In short.
The Host connects to the DSL modem via USB, and the client connects to the Host via CAT5 crossover cable.
So the missing piece of the puzzle is the CAT5 crossover cable.
Then set up your network per my instructions.
You will get better performance rather than networking through your phone line.Hope this helps.
