Comment:

I have a new HP computer that I have tried to hook up to my network. I know the network works because the old computer that I'm chucking sees the other computer fine, so that means the cable is OK, both machines on the network are running WinXP. However when I plug cable into the new HP I get an Icon down the bottom that says "little or no conectivity" I have done all I can but this message keeps appearing. When I go to the properties it says that it is connected but I can't se any of the other machines. What do I need to do to correct this problem.

Cheers

Make sure that your tcp/ip is setup properly (static or dhcp). I have also recieved computers with bad network cards in them, you might pull the old network card out of your old machine and put it in the new hp.

The problem i think with your new pc is that it must have a service pack installed on it.if you have service pack installed on your pc then this is what you must do.the only problem i found with service packs is this.the new SP1 and 2 i think has a protective patch for limiting network access to your pc through a network or internet and preventing supposely damage to your pc by someone on a network but it doesnt let you to have multible connections to your pc.microsoft has a patch for this problem whitch is seemed on some pcs and when installed it lets you have as much traffic as you can and your problem solved with less safety.search on microsofts web page for network multible connections patch(something like that)
