WIn98se - Peer-to-peer network

Connection between machine A and machines B,C,D,E "goes stale" (for lack of a better phrase) after a period of inactivity (usually about 1 hr). Rebooting machine A solves problem until next period of inactivity.

Any ideas?

That's actually normal behavior. With a server network, the server keeps the arp cache going as long as you're logged on, but with peer-to-peer, the arp cache entries expire after a few minutes. (Don't exactly remember how many.) Right click net neighborhood and do find computer to create new arp entries. Or you can double click and browse the network (may take several times) or in a dos window do arp -s and the ip address and hardware address of each machine -- these will be static addresses that won't expire.
