I'm running a network with 5 computers, 2 of them have Windows Xp Pro and the other 3 Windows 98 SE. My problem is that when I try to access one of the 2 Windows XP computers I get this error message. "C6 is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions..."
This only happens with 1 computer. The rest communicate fine with each other. And that 1 computer can access any other computer on the network including itself with no problem. But NO other computer can access C6 (that computer), not from Windows 98 OR XP. I tried changing the name the IP address and the Ethernet card. Still the same problem. The computer used to work till recently but I didnt install anything new (or at least I believe I didnt). I have also tried the following so pls do not ask me to do it again:
1. I disabled all the firewalls.
2. I do have the same workgroup and usernames on windows xp.
3. ALL users have FULL access.
4. Guest account is enabled.
5. I have tried with and without simple file sharing.
6. NetBios over TCP/IP is enabled.
7. The Server Service IS Running
8. The Computer Browser service is started on Windows XP Computers and stoped on 98.
9. I cannot even get to the cache credential process for C6 (the problematic PC) I get the error b4 that.
10. I didn't try loading NETBUI cause I do not think that is a solution. There it should be a way to solve it using TCP/IP alone.FINALLY Note I can See the Shared Computer on the WorkGroup Computers (even though I cannot access it), but I cannot see the shared resources in the Network Neighborhood.
