My computer is using a router for internet access, so i have my computer to receive the IP address from the router.

What seems to baffel me is that my Phsyical Address for the SIS 900 PCI intergrated hardware, has the Physical Address code 00-00-00-00-00-00

Any surgestion?

All network adapters have a MAC address that is six bytes long. This is its physical address. However a value of 00-00-00-00-00-00 would not be a valid MAC. The router has two MAC addresses, one on the network side and one on the Internet or WAN side. Same goes for most modems. The hardware uses the addresses to talk to each other. The higher level software use the IP addresses.

What are you using that is showing a MAC of 00-00-00-00-00-00. That can only happen if there is a hardware problem or confused software. Some software for reading this type of information may not work from behind a router.

I think ive sorted the problem i had, it seems my oringinal code got wiped some how, but ive managed after much reading to realise that there is a manual way to set the Physical Address in the network properties, and i found another code by chance for the same hardware, so i hope it does not clash.

Any way thanks you all who surgested ways to sort it.
