Try running the System Information Tool in System Tools. Check under Components, Network Adapter. Should tell you the name of the adapter from its Plug&Play ID.
Control Panel - System - Device Manager, Network Adpaters should expand and give you the name of the network adapter installed by its Plug&Play ID. Selecting and clicking Properties, Driver tab should also show you the same information, along with the curret driver software information. If the device is not installed, Device manager should still show you the adapter name.
If driver is installed and networking enabled, Control Panel - Network icon, should show you the name of all adapters by it Plug&Play ID.
