Hello i am Michael can you please help me fixthis networking problem with you card i recently got a NIC card from a friend no drivers and no instructions but he gave me the invoice form on the form the NIC card was called Acer/Aopen 10/100mb NWA328C i install the card into a PCI slot then booted up win98 recogniesed the was a eithernet card but i coul'd find AOpen anywhere in network card list so i ingonred and i went on the net so i went to your Site and then to your download area and selected the network card driver for this card which was 328v111
i downloaded it and unzipped it and then went to control panels added new hardware and selected the win98&2000 directory and hit ok it then after i selected the only NIC card on the Aopen list of cards i pushed ok then windows 98 came up with the following error message "Windwos was unable to install The Aopen LAN ALN-328 10/1000 Base TX Fast Eithernet Adapter device"
then i ok it then it said "unknown device
windows encounted an erro while trying to install the driver for this device Error code 1FG"
Restart no /yes

so then i went to networks in COntrol panels and added an adapter (Same one) but then it comes up with " you have selected a plug and play device please shutdown and install the adapter then turn on your machine again" something like this
let me telll you i reinstall win98 and it still comes up with the errors i also select win95 and win95_os2 directories in (328v111 directory) but they are all doing the same problem

Hello Michael,
This is Manish and this is my first advise on web. I hope it would help you to fix your NIC problem.
Let me start with control panel, go in that and select network in that if there is any nic installed just remove that and then close network windows with pressing ok tab, then go to system and click on device manager tab in that click on network adapters + sign if there is any adapters install remove it and close windows with ok.
Now go back to network and click on add button then select adapters and click on add button then you will get list of adapters, click on Have Disk button then it will ask you for driver location just enter correct path of that drivers that you download and unzipped in your hard drive then click ok and you will get list of adapters might be one or more adapters. Select your Acer/Aopen 10/100mb NWA328C from that list and click ok.
It should work this way if drivers are correct. After installation check the properties of adapter in network windows.
On installation process it may be ask you for insert win98 CD so be ready for that.
Try it..
Good luck.
Manish.
