I recently installed a network between 2 computers about a month ago. Every now and again my computer tells me there is a network cable unplugged and it turns my router off, why is it doing this???

It sounds more like your router keeps resetting, and that is causing you computer to sense a network drop, then it alerts you with the "cable unplugged" error. No power to the router, no connection detected. Might be a problem with the router

The answer above is correct. One thing to check is the power connector. There are a number of SOHO routrs that have had problems with the AC power connector on them not making good contact or coming lose.
