Please help - I'm losing it badly! I have an old
Hp (1GB CPU) which I have loaded Windows
XP Home on. The on board Ethernet slot lights
up, shows as working properly with no
conflicts, but shows on the desktop as
"Network Cable unplugged". If I have the cable
plugged into a newer machine it connects fine.
So I have installed a brand new D-Link Card,
which shows on the device manager, no
conflicts, working properly etc, but shows the
same error on the desktop. I have tried
reducing both connections to 10mbps half
duplex, but to no avail. Am I flogging a dead
horse?

What kind of device are you connecting to and what kind of cable are you using? Patch or Crossover?
