Solved network booting upnp below port 1024

December 7, 2013 at 18:03:13
Specs: android, 2g
Can an internal network dhcp broadcast from a client (port 67) be internally relayed\rebroadcasted to a different port (say 6767) using upnp?

Trying to run a pxe server from my phone but unfortunately, android does not allow binding ports lower than 1024. From my understanding, dhcp/pxe broadcast from PCs use broadcast port 67 so trying to find a way around.

Upnp has nothing to do with this as it is for autodiscovery of negotiated ports. That is not how dhcp works. You have to be doing NAT and port translation via a router to get port 6767 from the android to the dhcp server at port 67. Not sure how that would work since you need dhcp relay for that to work and I have never seen dhcp relay and port translation together. Sounds like this is a lan not a routed environment.
