hey im new to the network scene. i have an assignment and im a bit stuck on one part.. basically its this
in the assignment it deals with networking an office.. company has 4 departments (10pcs total) with 6 printers over the 4 departments...
now.. iv ran each computer into a wall port.. cabled straight to the patch panel then to the switch.. directly into the server..
how do i hook up the printers on the network? does it need a print server? what do i do with the printers??
i have to draw as a hardware diagram .. so i dont need configuration details.. just how to do draw it on a diagram
as i said im new to this so any info woulkd be appreciated..
please email me if u can help
thanks

There are two different ways for you to print
A. Network Printers - at that point you would have wall jacks for all the printers, ran to the patch panel and then to the switch. Most network printers have it where you assign the IP on the NIC interface, so it would just be another node on your network diagram but with an assigned IP
B. Printers hooked to a machine on each floor and then share it to the rest of the network...yup!

Or Option C:
Some printers may or may not have integraded Ethernet cards. For those that don't, they make print servers that accept an input as either USB or a Parallel connector. The print server will also have AN RJ-45 female which will interface with your network. You configure the print server with either a static IP or to obtain it via DHCP.
Essentially it's the same as the above solution A), only difference is that the printer may not have it's own Ethernet card.
