I have set up an office workgroup, peer-to-peer network. (I don’t have a server), And what I want to know is if I can set up account slimily to account on a server network domain.
As on a domain on any of the P.C.s you can log on to and you get the same lay out, desktop, My document folder, favorites folder, est. And I want to know if I can set something slimily up on a workgroup ( without a Server).
Maybe be able to log in to another computer (on a domain on the log on to windows boxes you get a choice of server domains and ‘this computer’ to log o to) Or set all the account folders (Desktop, My document folder, favorites folder, user data, est.) up to the account folders on one computer.
Thanks,
Chris.

I guess you could map a drive on common computer to allow your settings to be common. Not really worth it I'd think. There are other reasons for a domain not just files. Access to all resources can be controlled and finely tuned to each user.
I guess you could setup an openldap sort of deal. Most people who don't want a windows server opt for a linux based setup. See also 2X.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

In order to create a domain you are going to need to run a server of some type. The server acts as the Domain controller. Windows desktop OS's do not have the ability to act as Domain hosts. You will either need a Linux based host or Windows Server.
