Hi all,

I just signed up for a dedicated Covad SOHO ASDL loop. The rep told me that I had to use their router (Netopia 2247xxx line). I balked at this and was told that they only support service on the equipment they sell. Okay, okay.

What I currently have -- the Netopia box and service have not been installed yet -- is a Westell DSL modem linked into a Linksys RV042 router.

The Linksys RV042 allows for dual WAN input. I was previously running *both* verizon and cavtel DSL lines. I finally got tired of dealing with verizon and called it quits. Currently I'm only using CavTel DSL line, but once Covad is installed and running, I would like to run both to the Linksys router, like I had previously setup with Verizon.

Is it possible, and if so, what would be involved, in setting up the Netopia such that it passes through to one of the WAN ports on my Linksys router. (Covad has told me that I could not simply set up the Netopia as a bridge, though I'm not sure if this is a physical limitation or a "please don't do that" type of thing.)

Essentially I want to have the Covad connection coming into the WAN1 port of the Linksys via the Netopia, and then the CavTel signal coming into the WAN2 port of the Linksys via the Westell modem. (Previously this type of hook-up was a no brainer with Verizon coming into the WAN1 port via a second Westell modem.)

Best,
Rob

P.S. I am a bit of a newb at this, so please be patient if I seem a bit dense at times.

really should be very easy. Note the what the verizon ip was to the dual wan router so when you put in the linksys you just change the lan ip range to be the same subnet you had with verizon. It would be the only thing you have to change.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search
