Hi all,
it's just a small problem...
I wonder why I cannot use netmeeting to talk and see people, while I can do this fine with yahoo messenger. What can I change on the netmeeting settings to make it to work?
The server I use has a firewall..and I cannot change anything on it...Thanks for your help,
Sally

you can't.. I am using linksys router, aim, msn, both dont work on file transfer, only yahoo worked both. It's in the server end. There are no ports to forward to.

I have somewhat the same question. I have two computers one with Windows XP and the other with Windows 95. They are connected to a 4 port NOVI Router that connects to an ADSL modem and I would like to use MSN Messenger and Netmeeting. Since reading the above response I signed up for Yahoo Messenger but have not put anything into an account to try to use their netphone.
I have sent an e-mail to a service provider for the NOVI router about how to configure the router to use MSN Messengers features and Netmeeting. If I get some answers I will share them.
Also would like to know how to set up for Yahoo Messenger if this won't work.
Hope I can help you more soon.
Norman

A friend of mine has the same computer, we use netmeeting quite frequently. This may sound stupid but you need a hotmail account at least to use msn messenger which should allow net meeting to funtion correct. These are the ports I use for msn messenger,1863to1863,6891to6900,6901to6901.
With tcpand udp protocols. Hope this helps

Hi again,
I have an hotmail account and msn messenger.
where can I set up msn to use these ports you said?
thanks
sally

Sally,
I have not heard back from the vendor of my router yet but I found an update for Windows XP Home edition on the Windows update site that seems to have corrected the problem for Windows XP. It allows communication from a computer behind a NAT.
At least now I can use the netphone with MSN Messenger. Have not tried netmeeting or video conversation with anyone yet though.
Hope this helps.
Norman
PS Maybe there is an update for your OS at MSN that will help correct this problem.
