Hey everyone,

I am having issues with my wireless network. I am running a Netgear 54 mbps wireless router. Whenever I navigate to a page with a lot of pictures on it (for example a car forum with a thread containing lots of pictures to load), my wireless connection cuts out, and takes a few minutes to come back. I can browse other pages with less pictures all day long, but as soon as I visit a picture-heavy page, bye bye connection. Signal strength is "excellent" the entire time. I have tried messing with basic router settings, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Does it happen in more than one browser? It sounds like something is sending a reset (rst) packet. It could be an MTU problem.

Yes Guapo,

It happens with both firefox and IE. You'll have to forgive me for my lack of knowledge. What is MTU?

If the packet size is set too low, which it shouldn't be, that could cause it.

I'm using a netgear 54 on win xp using ie8 and my dsl at home frequently disconnects even though it says the signal strength is excellent. It's now starting to do this on other DSL networks (ie. at friends home, etc.). I'm not sure how to change the settings to tell it to receive more packets or some of the other problems/answers I see. Any suggestions besides a decent laptop?? :) thanks much! GL
