I just purchased a wireless card for my desktop (netgear wg511t). It can recognize the signal my router (netgear wgt624) is sending out but cannot connect. When I select the network it requests a Network Key (and confirmation). For the life of me I can't seem to provide what it is looking for.

I am using 64 bit WEP encryption, the router generates four 10 digit keys. I've tried each one of these without success.

Is there some other key I am not providing? If so can someone tell me where I can find this?

I have been using a wireless card (netgear wg511T) on my laptop without issue. I don't recall ever having to provide a network key.

Thanks in advance for your help on this.

With WEP you can use 1, 2, 3 or 4 keys. From your above statement it sounds like you are using 4 keys in your router but only one in your desktop. If so, in your netgear utility on the desktop you need to input the first key, click on "key 2" and input it, etc.

Thanks Terry. Actually, I think it was something entirely different. I had enabled Access security on the router which required the addition of the wireless card info (name & mac ID). Once I did this, I just entered the name of my network (ssid) where it was asking for the network key. It is working like a charm now.

Now I need to use the windows utility to setup my home network!
