Comment:

I have a Netgear WGR614v5 with the latest firmware and I have a WIRED connection. Yet, I repeatedly lose connection. I can connect to AIM, ICQ, etc but I cannot access the router setup page and I cannot visit webpages. I've tried to release and renew but it only works sometimes. Does anyone have any suggestions? I notice it happends when I have moderate to heavy connection going back and forth - for example P2P or I refresh something many times. I've spoken to Netgear three times and all they can tell me is to reset it. That's a lousy solution especially if it just doesn't stop happening!!

If you have no suggestions, do you know of a wireless router that will keep up with moderate to heavy network traffic??

Thanks

How is your wired nic setup ? It should be set as autonegotiate for speed and duplex ,do not hardcode the speed and duplex .

I have the same router, and the same problem. I actually run both wired and wireless on mine.

At first I thought that the transmitter was over heating and shutting down. Well, I set up a fan to keep the little bugger cool. Didn't help at all.

I also have an issue with it reseting port forwarding rules to port 16. The rule looks fine, then you go in to edit and it is forwarding port 16 only.

If anybody knows how to fix this PLEASE say something, or even why it is happening would be useful.

Ok, reinstalled the firmware update. That seems to have fixed the issue with the port forwarding rules. Still having the original problem though.
