Subject: Netgear router will not communicate
OS: Windows XP home
CPU/Ram: AMD 1.6 / 512nb ram
Model/Manufacturer: AMD 1.6
Comment:
I can connect to the net fine by plugging pc directly to cable modem. My netgear router has been OK for the last 6yrs or so no problems. Now I cannot connect to the net through the router. IP config shows the router IP as the default gateway. I cannot pint the router address. I swapped ethernet cables, pin reset on router does not work. Router configuration is correct. Any help?

Thank you.

After six years, your router may have died. If it were me, I'd reset it to factory defaults (that info should be in the manual) and then reconfigure it. If it works, great, if it doesn't, time to buy a new one.
