Hello all. I am having a problem with my new very expensive netgear router. I have previously used a linksys router on my 2 computers and it works fien but when i get on the netgear, i am able to be on the net for a short time before my lan connection drops on the ruter and I am disconnected. I have rset my modem but the MAC address dosent change, should it be set for static instead of dynamic, maybe the ISP dosent like when the WAN ip changes for the router, SO MANY MANY SETTINGS AND PROBLEMS THAT COULE BE WRONG PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Don't mess with the mac address. Mac address is not the same as ip address. Set the wan port to the ip address as supplied by the isp or to get dhcp from the isp.
Your pcs should be set to receive ip addresses from the router [dhcp]. Reboot and that should be it.
I am assuming you are not chaining these routers [linksys and netgear]

I believe I have a similar problem. The issue is with Netgear MR314/MA401 after upgrade from Win ME to Win XP Pro. It works for about 3 hours and for no known reason, the internet connection is dropped and cannot be regained without a full uninstall and reinstall of all H/W and S/W. Driver updates from Netgear lacked docs and seemed to have no effect. Connecting through the MA314's Ethernet ports works fine, so I am sure it is a MR314/MA401/WinXP issue. Also, the MR314/MA401 worked fine on WinME. Netgear manuals and website were of no avail.
