Hey, i have a Netgear Wireless Router WGT624 and i share between my computer and my parents computer. Anyway for some reason I lose access to the internet and in order to fix it i have to shut down comp and then take the power off the cable modem and the router. After i connect the modem after 2 mins and then a min later for the router. Last i turn on the computer. I just got this router and know little about it. At first it was working fine it just started to act up today...please any help.

This is why I dropped Netgear after using their products extensively for years.

I recommend taking it back and getting a Linksys.

In many cases sudden connectivity problems mean your ISP is screwing up. First thing to do is check all your connections and make sure that everything is secure. Then look at the lights on your cable modem: All of them should be on and steady except for one that flashes intermittently. When you try to send to the Internet another should blink quickly for a moment. If you only see the Power light on or several lights off it means your modem is not receiving data from your ISP's server and the problem is probably not on your end. Contact your ISP for assistance. You may need a replacement modem or they're having network problems.

If the modem seems OK, next time it does this (or if it's doing it right now) go to the Command Prompt and type

ping 127.0.0.1

If you get 5 OKs back your PC's network adapter is working. Next enter

ipconfig /all

this will give your IP address, gateway address, and DNS server address. Ping those and see what happens.

(fer example) ping 192.168.0.3 (for your port)
(fer example) ping 192.168.0.1 (for your DNS server)

If you get OKs back your routing to your router is OK and your router is most likely OK. Next try to open your router's configuration webpage in your browser. Run your browser (IE, Mozilla, Firefox, whatever) and type your DNS server address in the address bar then press Enter. You'll need your router's admin name and password to enter the page: If you haven't set them they'll be default settings which are found in your user manual (usually something like "ADMIN" and "1234"). If you've changed them (and you should, for security) enter the new ones.

Once you're on the page lookup the router's gateway address: This is the IP address your ISP provides to let you use their services. Go back to the Command Prompt and see if you can ping this.

ping 132.11.114.157 (fer example).

If you get an OK back you're connected to your ISP. Now try to ping somebody's IP address or URL out on the Internet and see what happens. Try several sites because not everybody responds to a ping command. If you can't connect to anyone it's probably your ISP's DNS server that's hosed up and there's nothing you can do about that except call and complain.
