Dear guys,
I'm using the NetComm (NB1300) Ethernet/USB ADSL Modem Router to connect to the broadband Internet, via USB configuration. So, there is a Ethernet port spare at the back of the Modem Router.
Can I have another computer connected to internet via the Ethernet Configuration also? I mean, TWO machines connect to the broadband internet by only ONE ADSL Modem Router, via TWO configurations (Ethernet and USB; each for individual machine).
So, if it would. Please tell me how can I set up for another machine?
Many thanks
Tommy

Probably. You router manual should tell you. I have a Zoom X4 modem/router with a similar configuration and that allows both Ehternet and USB ports to be used simaltanously on two different computers.
You need a Netwrok Interface Card in theother computer that connects via Cat5 cable. Set the computer to obtain IP address automatically and thats about all there is to it.
Each computer will get its own LAN IP address via DHCP from the router and share the Internet IP address via Network Address Translation.
If you want more than two computers to share the internet, you will have to plug the Ethernet output into a hub or switch.

Stuart,
I do have the NIC on the other machine as well. But I dont know how to set the IP Address of that machine to obtain the IP of the modem? Am I right or wrong? Please show me as detail as possible to set it up!
Many Thanks
Tommy

No need to set any IP address. Run the Network Wizard from Network Connections and set it to connect to the Internet via Lan and everything will be set up. The Network software will get an IP address from the router.
Both computers should be able to see each other providing they are set up to share folders and both are on the same workgroup.

Do I have to install the modem driver for both machines? Becuase, when I run the network wizard from the Network connection, nothing happened.

Okay you can only have one or the other connection into the modem/router. Most internet service providers read the physical or MAC Address of what is connected to the router and they only allow one at time connection. The solution is what i did at home. I bought a second plain old router for about 60.00 dollars US. I plugs into the modem/router via RJ45(ethernet cable). My computer i plug into it, because it also has a 4 port ethernet switch in it. This way the ISP only sees the mac address of my router and not the computers. Once you get the router email me and I can step you through setting it up and setting dhcp to assign internal address and set the gateway.

Hi guys,
As Stuart did show me how to setup things up. Now everything going very good then... Thanks Stuart so much... Thanks Perry also.
Tommy.
