Hi have a slight problem that comes and goes every few weeks some times lasting for 2 weeks at a time,
my internet stops for 1-2 seconds every 20 seconds at a time constantly
To show you what i mean i used netmeter while steaming a movie
http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/...Although its not to bad browsing the internet or watching films cause you just don't notice 1 second drop outs, But playing online games its complete havoc, Lag for 1-2 seconds every 20 seconds is a nightmare, I done tracerouths and it came out clear under 100ms ping servers i play on, Also ran spyware and virus programs all came out clean,
My isp won't help me they don't return phonec alls so thought id come here to see if anyone could figure it out.
Thanks

If you are using a router to connect to the internet, take a look at the log entries of that router. Search for connection drops.
If there is no problem, try this.Try the following command and look, what happens there:
ping -t your_isp_server.comUse your standard gateway, given to you by your ISP for your:isp:server.com.
This command does a permanent ping to the given ip address.
So, if you'll get timeouts, it's definately a problem of the ISP, because you'll ping that gateway of your ISP directly via wired connection.Paul

I don't seem to get a timeout doing that ping but i ran it with Netmeter and streaming a movie and still got a drop in DL every 20 seconds, my connection doesn't really cut out it just pauses for a second so anything im downloading or playing online will freeze its totally undetectable while browsing the internet or downloading i only see it with net meter, playing online its a whole different ballgame and its very frustrating
