net conection drops

I have a dlink 714 router, dsl connection, and when I start certain apps that connect to the net, the internet connection drops suddenly. I have to switch on and off the modem to get back. Does anyone know why this happen? thankyou

Hard to beleive the problem is with starting an app if the fix is restarting the "modem" Is this the DSL modem you are talking about? If so nothing on the computer box should have anything to do with it. WHen you next have the problem (after launching the application) try a ping to the router's ip number.

Its the dsl modem, yes. I try running that program, and it drops saying, timed out.
