Need help with my pc & router plz....

Specs: Windows XP

Hi,Last week i joined talk talk, i got a wireless router Huawei echolife HG532, i connected to the internet easy peasy via my kids laptop, but cannot for the life of me get my desktop pc to connect to the internet thru the ethernet cable nor thru my Huawei E160 dongle. I have called talktalk about this and after a lengthy discussion (over 2hrs) they still couldnt fathom wot the problem was.They got me to do ping tests etc and my pc DOES recognise the riouter is there but wen i try connect to internet i get the page "internet explorer cannot display webpage"
The tech guy from talktalk said it might be a conflict with other programs,so i deleted a few things ..still cannot connect. Ive now been sittin at my pc for 3hrs trawling the net for answers, and recently found possibly a solution, could anyone please tell me if this is right...

Disable the firewall for now. Then run ipconfig /all from a command prompt & post the output here. Do that with the cable connected.

We can play with the wireless adapter later.

erm!! im connected to internet using my mobile broadband modem, should i switch back to ethernet for now to run ipconfig?

Disconnect mobile broadband and plugged in ethernet, ran cmd then ipconfig/all

Just so u know... via the talktalk broadband guys call, i also ran from START>RUN
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset

Still got same answer tho, that there were probly programs conflicting on my pc because could defo see the N router

It's getting an IP address which is a good sign. If you think there are conflicts, boot to safe mode & see what happens. Did you disable the firewall, the way I suggested? Is there a secondary firewall, such as Norton or zone alarm?

You could also try using a static IP with DNS entries of your ISP instead of the router being listed. Who is your ISP.

yes i disabled windows firewall.
I restarted my pc in Safe Mode with Networking, guess wot? i can get online.

So how come i cant get online in normal mode?
I checked my pc and i do not have any secondary firewall, not that i can see

Hi just lettin u know my prob is now fixed thanx to a guy on Tech Support Forum, i had to uncheck everything in my LAN settings (proxy was on)
