Specs: WIn7, 4GB
Hi:
Has someone used or been using Netgear GS748S managed switch? I need to configure a port as trunking so the port connect to firewall port as router on a stick. I read its manual and search on net, there are not much infomation about setting up a trunk port. the most possible way to configure the port is using LAG. I did try but no luck still.

In the Cisco world you make a port a trunk by enabling 802.1q on it.

On my Avaya switches (Nortel) you set it to "trunk' mode which is basically means setting the port to "tag all" (as in tag all VLAN's - an "untagged" port would be for a client connection)

A quick google search of "netgear gs748s trunk port configuration" lead to the following:

Thanks for your reply, I am now able to configure a port as trunk "T" under every vlan id on Netgear switch. However, I am still having problem to ping my sonicwall X0:V10 IP address from vlan port. On my sonicwall, I created 2 sub-interfaces for each VLAN (says X0:V10 & X0:V20) V10 belongs to VLAN10, I have a PC connect to switch port belongs to VLAN10 but can't ping to X0:V10 sub-interface IP (assume the rule is allowed). Anyone familiar Sonicwall NSA240 configuration? Since my NSA240 firewall is support expired, I have to look for support here.

why do you think you need two vlans on the sonicwalls lan port?
Aren't you filtering all sonicwall traffic?

Reason I ask is folks sometimes forget the KISS rule.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

I need to setup lab environment that require 2 vlans and they both need to access internet, so I need to create sub-interfaces so sonicwall act as a router on a stick.
