I have two computers. The dell dual boots xp and me. The compaq dual boots xp and redhat linux.

I want to set up a network with these two so i can share files and a single internet connection.
Both computers have identical NIC's.

So what else i need. Will i need a hub or something. It's only two computers.

Please help, i have no idea.

Just buy a ethernet cross-over cable.

For Linux to talk to Windows you only need on the linux box to setup Samba.

One one machine 192.168.0.1 and on the other 192.168.0.2.

Just a note:

you have these two computer dual booted, both OS on the one computer can have diff ip addresses, I would make them the same but you don't have use the same ip address.
