Subject: NAT-mode disabled in VMware WS 5.5?
OS: WinXP Pro SP2
CPU/Ram: 1GB
Model/Manufacturer: IBM
Comment:

Hey,
I need to put my Win98SE virtual machine to NAT-mode in VMware Workstation 5.5. When I go to Edit virtual machine settings -> Ethernet, there's these four Network connection alternatives:
1) Bridged
2) NAT
3) Host-only
4) Custom: [dropdown list]

It's now in Bridged mode, and the second alternative, NAT, is disabled, I can't choose it. I've checked in the Services that the VMware NAT Service is running and the VMware Tools are up to date.
How can I enable the NAT-mode?

Never mind, I found out that there was a bug that made certain VMware versions had a security issue with NAT-mode.
"VMware has issued updates to VMware Workstation, VMware GSX Server, VMware ACE, and VMware Player to address a potential vulnerability in the NAT networking component of these products."
"The following versions correct the problem:

For VMware Workstation 5.x: VMware Workstation 5.5.1 or higher
For VMware Workstation 4.x: VMware Workstation 4.5.3 or higher
For VMware Player: VMware Player 1.0.1 or higher
For VMware ACE 1.x: VMware ACE 1.0.2 or higher
For VMware GSX Server 3.x: VMware GSX Server 3.2.1 or higher"

You can get the newest versions at the download page: www.vmware.com/download

In WS 5.5.1 NAT works fine.
