i cant seem to connect to the internet with the Ethernet adapter National Semiconductor Corp. DP83815 10/100 Macphyter3V Pci Adapter. it either says network cable unplugged or limited or no connectivity. when repair says cannot renew ip address. serched and installed driver with no succsess. tried setup wizard. what else should i do?

How are you connecting to the Internet, straight to a modem, through a router, etc?

yes. its connected straight to the modem. i reinstalled XP Pro and now the icon in the tray doesnt appear like it did before. dut still doesnt connect to internet. would it have anything to do with the intergrated dial up modem?
