NAT over NAT????

Is there any problems with running NAT over NAT? A freind of mine is getting a DSL connection and the provider is saying they will only configure his DSL modem as a router with a public IP address on the modem with a private addressing scheme on the LAN side. They are running NAT & DHCP on the LAN side of the modem. He wanted to put in his own firewall in that he was going to publically address and run NAT himself. In my opinion NATing twice spells problems but I was hoping someone could point me someone where this is documneted. Thanks in advance! Tony

the only problem that i can think of is if you are going to try and do any type of public servers (web, ftp, mail etc.) but other then that just being able to get on the net with his internal computers should not be a problem... good luck
