My wireless Router drops out w/o reconnectabl

July 26, 2011 at 14:15:09
Specs: Windows 7, 8 gigs
My wireless connection drops out while still showing good signal - rebooting the router allows a reconnection, how do I correct this?

Ihave 2 laptops and my smartphone that normally use the network.

Wifi analyzer on my phone reports that there is no connection and yet shows a good signal.

The wired side of the router continues to work correctly.

Sometimes the connection re-attaches by itself and other times a reboot of the router is required.

Make sure that your devices are within range of the router. The devices might be getting a signal from the router but the router might not be getting the signal from the devices.

My wireless systems have worked from the same locations for over 3 years. Today without moving I have lost connectivity 3 times, all of which got the reboot finger. Yesterday, it was also 3 times but I waited long enough that once it reconnected on its own.

Here are some factors that could affect wireless network performance, you could understand and take some actions to overcome them.

In addition, you might want to play with advanced wireless network settings too if you want, and see how it goes later.

Hope this helps.
