I'm trying to hook my dad's and my computer to the same internet connection through a linksys router. I've hooked the modem to the router and 2 cable going to each of the computers from the router. I have them both connected to the internet but my computer will only connect to internet explorer. Firefox, fulltilt poker and warcraft 3 won't connect to the internet. Both computers are running XP home. I do not know what to do. Please help!

Not real clear...do BOTH computers only connect to the internet thru Internet Explorer, or onle one computer.??? What happens when you try to connect up thru Firefox,...any error messages???

no just 1 computer other one works fine firefox just says unable to connect firefox can't establish a connection to the server at (my home page). Its not jsut firefox its everything i've tried besides internet explorer.

Try swapping the connections at the router to see if the problem migrates to the other PC. If not, the problem is with your PC. If so, there's some kind of restriction programmed into the router. Is there a firewall set up on the PC that won't connect? Some firewalls filter outgoing connections and you have to "permit" the program that's trying to access the Internet in the firewall. Check your TCP/IP settings to make sure that your PC is set to "Use DNS Server for WINS Resolution" and "Assign IP Address Automatically".

yep good call on that firewall my avg firewall was corrupted and wasnt opening up to give me choices on what to do. thanks for the help i really appreciate it.
